About Heather Jordan-Beare

About Heather Jordan-Beare:  A little bit about my yoga & meditation journey…
There  are many styles of yoga and meditation and just as many reasons to  practice both. I began my journey with the practice of yoga as a  collegiate track athlete. I came to yoga for injury prevention and ‘a  good stretch’. 20 years later I consider my most fortunate discovery to  be the use of both yoga and meditation as incredibly powerful coping  tools during periods of intense anxiety and stress… My personal yoga  practice includes the following blend: power, Iyengar, vinyasa flow,  yin, restorative, bikram & yoga nidra. My personal meditation  practice is also diverse: I use both open monitoring meditation and  focused attention, i.e. transcendental meditation (TM), mindfulness  based stress relief (MBSR), loving-kindness (Metta) and pranayama breath work.

My 200-hour yoga teacher training was completed through The  Lotus Pond Center for Yoga & Health in Tampa, FL where I learned  alignment discipline directly from Karin Stefan, Master Iyengar teacher  (who introduced Iyengar yoga to the US in the 1970s) and was taught  pranayama by Larissa Carlson, Kripalu Center YTT director. While living  in NYC, I later completed certifications in ISHTA meditation with,  Tantric & Kriya Yoga Master, Alan Finger and Yin yoga with, Yoga  Master, Ulrica Norberg.

I consider the way I teach both yoga and meditation to be pretty  simple and straightforward, approaching the practice in a light and  accessible way. I encourage an attitude of non-judgment; of self and of  experience, as well as a focus on breath and of course I encourage  smiles. Come as you are, all are welcome and all are capable… Believe  me, if I can sit still, anyone can ;-)

Yin and Meditation for improved sleep description:  This class combines meditation with poses held in  stillness for 2 to 5 minutes, allowing you to go deep and inward. In Yin  Yoga we target the connective tissues, such as tendons, ligaments and  fascia, while opening the body's meridian system. Yin restores and  maintains the natural mobility of the joints and enhances the body's  energetic flow to support emotional equilibrium. Come melt away physical  tension, energetic knots and chronic pain with therapeutic yin yoga  poses. This practice will leave you feeling refreshed, renewed and  restored. All levels welcome.
